When creating the logo for the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington DC, I steered clear of the overused monument imagery. Stars are apolitically patriotic and very DC, appearing on both the US and the District flags. The single star formed by smaller ones conveys that every member is a star, making the overall chorus shine even brighter. Lavender stars were added to the expected reds and blues to represent the LGBTQ+ community.
